In a recent interview with talkSPORT, Scott Minto has urged his former club Chelsea to land Bayern Munich centre-forward Robert Lewandowski this summer. Minto said,
“I personally would like to see Tuchel somehow have the conversation with Lukaku and say” ‘what do we need to do to get the best out of you?’.
“[But] it’s not going to happen. We know that. Tuchel has said it’s not about us adjusting to him, he has to adjust to us. It has clearly not happened.
“Lewandowski would be absolutely superb in the short term. Even if he’s on a two-year contract, he might get away with a three.
“He’s proven right now. Chelsea are all about the here and now, they have been for the last two decades.”
Lewandowski’s Stellar Goal-Scoring Record In Germany Last Season
Lewandowski had another incredible campaign at the Allianz Arena as he produced several match-winning performances while acting as the spearhead of the Bayern attack. The 33-year-old banged in 50 goals and grabbed seven assists in 46 matches for the German club last season across all fronts.
The Poland international has led the line well for the Bavarian giants based on his average of 4.7 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He was even been accurate when distributing possession up top, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 77.4% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Is Lewandowski A Dream Option For Chelsea Head Coach Thomas Tuchel?
Lewandowski remains an unforgiving finisher in the final third and can also a few clear-cut chances for his teammates in the opposition half. He is a good header of the ball and can still get himself into some dangerous areas inside the opponent’s penalty box.
At 33, the Polish striker might still have a couple of seasons left in him to play at his best. Thus, he will be a good, short-term fix to Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel‘s goal-scoring problems at Stamford Bridge.
We can expect Lewandowski to add a lot of goals to the Blues’ frontline and instill a winning mindset in Chelsea’s dressing room. He could even serve as a brilliant replacement for Romelu Lukaku who is facing an uncertain future at the West London club.
With all things considered, Lewandowski will be a dream option for the Blues to pursue before the start of the new campaign as he could help them win a few trophies over the next couple of years.
