In a recent interview with talkSPORT, former Premier League striker Darren Bent tipped Liverpool to move in for Manchester United forward Paul Pogba. Bent said, “You say Klopp and Pep wouldn’t touch him, I bet they’ve probably looked at the scenario and I bet they’ve had a conversation with him.
“You know what all great manager’s are like, they always think that even though that player has been a problem elsewhere, I can get the best out of him. I can guarantee you that Pep and Klopp think they can get the best out of any player on the planet.”
Pogba’s Up And Down Season At Old Trafford
Pogba had a campaign of mixed emotions at Man United as he produced some influential displays but struggled to earn regular first-team opportunities in the Premier League. The 29-year-old has picked up nine assists and scored one goal in 27 matches for the Red Devils this season across all competitions.
The French talent deserves credit for giving a good account of himself at the centre of the park based on his average of 1.6 shots, 1.2 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the English top tier. He has even been excellent when distributing possession from midfield after making 83.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Pogba Bring To Liverpool?
Pogba can do a little bit of everything at the centre of the park. He can get stuck in with some solid tackles to make life difficult for the opposition and doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed.
The French midfield ace can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and can even set up some clear-cut chances for his teammates in the final third. However, he needs to add more goals to his game if he wants to taste more success at the highest level.
Therefore, Liverpool would be wise to listen to Bent’s advice by moving in for Pogba when he becomes a free agent at the end of this month. He will bring a lot of quality to Jurgen Klopp‘s midfield and could help the Reds bring even more silverware to Anfield in the coming seasons.
