In a recent tweet, Bild journalist Tobi Altschaffl mentioned that Barcelona have submitted a €45m (€40m plus €5m in addons) bid for Bayern Munich goal machine Robert Lewandowski. It has been claimed that the Catalan giants have made their third offer to secure the Polish striker’s signature this summer.

Lewandowski’s Excellent Numbers At The Allianz Arena
Lewandowski had another outstanding campaign in German football as he continued to bang in goals for fun in the Bundesliga. The 33-year-old found the back of the net on 50 occasions and secured seven assists in 46 matches for the Bavarian giants last season in all competitions.
The 132-time Poland international deserves a lot of credit for averaging 4.7 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has even been careful when linking up play with his teammates in the final third after making 77.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
Should Barcelona Boss Xavi Get Lewandowski On Board?
Lewandowski remains a deadly finisher inside the opponent’s penalty area and is quite proficient at creating space for himself to get a few shots in on target.
The Poland international can also chip by picking up his fair share of assists in the attacking end of the field. However, he is not getting any younger and will only serve as a good short-term signing for Barca boss Xavi to pursue this summer.
Still, there is no denying that a striker of Robert Lewandowski’s quality will instantly help the Catalan outfit challenge Real Madrid for the La Liga title next season. He would add plenty of goals to Xavi’s frontline in the upcoming campaign.
At 33, Lewandowski might still have a few good years left in him to play at his best. Thus, Barcelona would be wise to try everything they can to get him on board before the end of this summer transfer window.
