In a recent report, Fanatik stated that Aston Villa winger Trezeguet is close to sealing a move to Turkey with Trabzonspor eager to recruit him this summer. It is believed that the Turkish club is close to agreeing on a €3m deal for the Villans wide player.
Trezeguet’s Recent Loan Spell In Turkish Football
Trezeguet enjoyed a decent loan spell at Istanbul Basaksehir last season when he managed to produce a few eye-catching displays as an influential member of their attack. The Egypt international was involved in 13 matches for the Turkish side in the previous campaign, scoring six goals and grabbing four assists across multiple competitions.
The former Anderlecht talent proved himself to be an important member of Basaksehir’s starting XI as he averaged 0.9 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 0.8 clearances, 2.9 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game in the Turkish Super Lig. He was even been tidy when distributing the ball in the final third, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 83.6% in the top tier of Turkish football (stats via whoscored).
Is Aston Villa Boss Steven Gerrard Let Trezeguet Go This Summer?
Trezeguet is a tough-tackling winger who can make a few timely interceptions for his team when needed. The Egyptian sensation has got a good work ethic and can make some clever runs with the ball out in the wide areas when he is playing with confidence on the pitch.
The talented wide player can even chip in by scoring and assisting his fair share of goals in the final third. However, Trezeguet has failed to make himself an important member of Steven Gerrard‘s match-day squad. At 27, he is currently playing at his prime but is not good enough to secure a regular starting spot at Villa Park.
Thus, it is only fair to the player if the Villans let him go this summer. Trezeguet is in dire need to earn regular starts in top-flight football which Aston Villa cannot offer him at the moment.
The West Midlands club would be better off cashing in on him and reinvesting the money generated from his sale to bolster other areas of their squad.
