West Ham United enjoyed a decent campaign in the Premier League as well in Europe as they ended up securing a seventh-place finish in the league table. The Hammers deserve a lot of praise for making the semifinals of the UEFA Europa League where they were eventually beaten by Eintracht Frankfurt over two legs.
The East London outfit decided to strengthen their squad by signing Craig Dawson, Kurt Zouma and Nikola Vlasic last summer. They also completed the loan acquisitions of Alex Kral and Alphonse Areola ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
Let’s take a look at how each of them performed for West Ham over the past ten months.
Craig Dawson – 7.5/10
Dawson was a rock at the back for the Hammers for most of this season. The 32-year-old participated in 50 matches for the London outfit, scoring four goals and securing two assists in multiple competitions. He performed well to average 0.9 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 4.1 clearances per game in Premier League football (stats via whoscored).
Kurt Zouma – 7/10
Just like Dawson, Zouma was a dominant presence at the heart of David Moyes‘ defence and managed to help the Hammers go strong in both the English top-flight and the Europa League this season.
Nikola Vlasic – 5.5/10
Vlasic has endured an underwhelming spell with West Ham as he has failed to be consistent in terms of his offensive productivity. The Croat made 31 appearances for the Hammers, netting one goal and providing two assists across various competitions.
Alex Kral – 4/10
Kral has struggled to make an impact at the London Stadium while on loan after playing in just six matches for David Moyes’ side this season without registering a goal or an assist.
Alphonse Areola – 7/10
Areola has served as a good backup to Lukasz Fabianski and managed to impress in the Europa League where he kept five clean sheets and conceded eight goals in 11 matches during this campaign.
