In a recent report, Goal.com revealed that West Ham United are facing stiff competition for Chelsea striker Armando Broja who is currently playing on loan at Southampton. It is believed that the Hammers will have to rival AC Milan, Inter Milan, Napoli, Newcastle United and Southampton in pursuit of the Albanian forward.
Broja’s Encouraging Loan Spell At Southampton
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a decent loan spell at the south coast of England as he has managed to put in a few eye-catching displays as the focal point of Ralph Hasenhüttl’s attack. Broja has banged in nine goals and grabbed one assist in 38 matches for the Saints this season across all fronts.
The Slough-born sensation has caught the eye by averaging 1.4 shots and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. However, he has been sloppy with his link-up play in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 61.4% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
West Ham Face Stiff Competition For Broja: Is He Worth The Fight?
Broja has got the pace to cause a few problems for the opposition defenders and is proficient at getting in behind them. He has proven himself to be a decent finisher in the attacking end of the pitch. However, the Albanian sensation needs to add a few more assists to his game if he wants to establish himself as a top striker in Europe someday.
At 20, Broja is only going to get better with each season, so the Hammers will do well to lure him to the London Stadium during this summer transfer period. The Albania international is primarily a centre-forward but can even fill in as a right-sided wide player if required.
The gifted marksman will add more goals to David Moyes‘s attack. He could even go on to form a lethal attacking partnership with Michail Antonio at the East London club in the coming seasons. Thus, Broja as he is well worth the fight as he could help West Ham push for a top-four finish in the next Premier League campaign.
