Tottenham Hotspur clashed heads with Liverpool at Anfield earlier tonight as they focused on grinding out a good result on the road. Spurs kept things tight in the first half and managed to get to the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
Heung-min Son gave the North London outfit a surprise lead in the 56th minute. However, Luis Diaz equalised for Liverpool in the 74th minute with a deflected goal from long range. The contest finished with Spurs securing a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Merseyside.
Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham player performed during the match against the Reds.
GK: Hugo Lloris – 6.5/10
The French keeper made a couple of good saves at the back. He also came out to collect crosses and loose balls quite effectively when needed.
CB: Cristian Romero – 7/10
Romero was a solid presence on the defensive end of the field. He made plenty of clearances to keep the Liverpool attackers frustrated for most of the game.
CB: Eric Dier – 7/10
He was always willing to clear the danger when required and even blocked a few shots.
CB: Ben Davies – 6.5/10
Davies was strong in the air and didn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition were on the front foot. However, he was untidy with his passing.
RM: Emerson Royal – 7.5/10
He gave a good account of himself when defending inside his half.
CM: Rodrigo Bentancur – 7/10
Bentancur protected his backline really well but offered very little in the Liverpool half.
CM: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg – 7.5/10
He was unlucky to hit the post with his goal-bound attempt in the first half. Hojbjerg anchored the midfield with conviction throughout the 90 minutes.
LM: Ryan Sessegnon – 7/10
Sessegnon came back to defend when needed and was a threat going forward. He set up Son’s goal with a great pass.
RW: Dejan Kulusevski – 6.5/10
He made a few decent runs with the ball but hardly got a sniff at goal.
ST: Harry Kane – 7/10
The England international linked up well really well with his teammates on the counter. However, he saw chances come at a premium up top.
LW: Heung-min Son – 7.5/10
Son was a real threat on the break and scored a good goal in the second half which ensured a point for his side.
Substitutes:
CB: Davinson Sanchez – 6/10
He added more bite and steel to Antonio Conte’s defence.
CM: Harry Winks – N/A
Winks came on to run the clock down.
LW: Steven Bergwijn – N/A
He didn’t get enough minutes to warrant a rating.
