From recent reports, football.london believes that Tottenham Hotspur are showing keen interest in Frankfurt left wing-back, Filip Kostic, in this summer transfer window.
It has also been mentioned that the Europa League Player of the Season award winner could be valued at £8 million. Spurs could make use of their £150m transfer budget in bringing in Kostic, in an attempt to strengthen their squad.
Kostic’s Impressive Campaign At Eintracht Frankfurt This Season
The Serbia international has had a solid campaign at the Deutsche Bank Park scoring 7 goals and creating 13 assists this season across all competitions.
He has given a good account of himself averaging 1.4 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 1.6 shots and 2.8 key passes per 90 mins in the Bundesliga. He has been decent when distributing the ball making 69.7% of his attempted passes in German top-flight football (stats via whoscored)
How Would He Add On To Tottenham Hotspur Boss Antonio Conte’s Starting XI?
Filip Kostic is quick on deducing impending danger and positons himself exceptionally well when on the back-foot. He can make some decent runs on the left flank and has a wide array of crossing talents to create opportunities in front of the goal. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but remains versatile enough to play as a left-sided wide midfielder or in the left-back position if needed.
At 29, the veteran midfielder still has a few years left in him to play at a high level. Conte would be wise to pursue his signature as his calibre and experience could make a difference in the title run next season.
Kostic could make way into Antonio Conte’s starting XI if Sergio Reguilon moves away. With Champions League football in the mix for the Lilywhites next season, the Serbian midfielder should look to create an impact right from the get-go.
