West Ham United experienced a solid campaign in both domestic and European football and deserves credit for securing a seventh-place finish in the Premier League despite making a strong run in the UEFA Europa League.
The Hammers proved that they can be a good match for any team at the London Stadium by picking up points against both Manchester City and Liverpool in the league last season.
However, the lack of depth, especially in the attacking department has sometimes left them a bit weak when trying to cope with fixture congestion.
Here are three positions that David Moyes should look to improve this summer.
Centre-Forward
Michail Antonio has enjoyed a decent campaign at the East London club. However, the Hammers have often been over-reliant on him to carry most of the goal-scoring duties up top. Moyes needs to sign a backup for him in this off-season as he cannot afford to go into another campaign with just one senior striker in his squad.

Midfield
Following the retirement of Mark Noble, West Ham are in dire need to strengthen their midfield this summer. Both Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice have been regular features in Moyes’ first XI this season due to their consistency on the field.
However, Alex Kral’s loan spell is also coming to an end soon which makes the midfield a priority area for the Hammers to address ahead of the new campaign.
Number 10 (Attacking Midfield)
Manuel Lanzini has got just a year left to run in his current contract at the London Stadium. Thus, Moyes would be wise to cash in on the Argentine playmaker and use the money generated from his sale to bring in a younger and suitable replacement during this summer transfer period.
Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma are both worthy candidates to play the number 10 role for West Ham but Moyes has often used them out in the wide areas during the 2021-22 Premier League campaign. Therefore, the East London club should think about recruiting a new attacking midfielder who could help them compete across all competitions in the future.
