In a recent report, Tuttomercatoweb mentioned that Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic is set to undergo his medical at Tottenham Hotspur soon. It is believed that the Croatia international will pen a two-year contract with Spurs when he becomes a free agent at the end of next month.
Perisic’s Impressive Numbers In Italian Football This Season
Perisic has enjoyed a decent season at San Siro as he has been responsible for putting in a handful of productive performances on the left side of Inter’s attack. The 33-year-old has found the back of the net on ten occasions and secured nine assists in 49 matches for the Italian giants during this campaign on all fronts.
The experienced attacker has been a consistent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 1.1 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.3 shots, 1.6 key passes, 1.1 dribbles and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A.
He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after making 76.3% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Is Perisic A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Antonio Conte?
Perisic is an experienced wide player who doesn’t mind working hard for his side on the defensive end of the field if needed. He can create some decent chances for others around him and is a good finisher in front of the opposition goal. The 113-time Croatia international remains an excellent crosser of the ball but father time is slowly catching up with his game.
At the moment, Tottenham could definitely use someone of Perisic’s skillset and experience to bolster their attack next season. At 33, the ex-Borussia Dortmund player has still got a couple of years left in him to play at a high level.
Thus, it makes sense for Spurs to finalize a move to bring Perisic to North London this summer. He is good enough to offer some healthy competition for Heung-min Son and even act as a cover for Harry Kane in Antonio Conte‘s squad. With all things considered, Perisic will be a great choice for the London outfit to recruit on a free transfer in this off-season.
