Everton had to endure a tough season in the Premier League as they struggled most of the way but ended up securing their top-flight lives for another year under the guidance of Frank Lampard. Despite last weekend’s 5-1 defeat away at Arsenal, the Toffees managed to earn a 16th place finish in the league standings.
Everton’s 2021-22 Season Review: Major Talking Points
The Merseyside club made an excellent start to this campaign as they secured three wins and a draw to kick things off in the Premier League. However, their fortunes began to change for the worse soon after as they suffered poor defeats against the likes of Aston Villa, West Ham United, Watford and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively. Everton were also dumped out of the League Cup after their penalty shootout loss vs Queens Park Rangers in September.
The Toffees went through a tough period during the winter months which led to Rafael Benitez’s sacking in January. Lampard came in through the door and steadied the ship in the second half of this campaign. However, his players suffered a poor 4-0 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace back in March which knocked them out of the FA Cup.
Even though Everton found themselves in the relegation zone with just a few weeks left to go, they managed to turn things around by picking up all three points against Chelsea, Leicester City and Crystal Palace in the last stretch of this season.
Everton’s Best Players Of The 2021-22 Campaign

He scored four goals and three assists in 35 league matches for the Toffees which helped them get over the finishing style with their Premier League status intact.
Jordan Pickford
Pickford was responsible for making a lot of crucial saves for Everton. His contributions helped the Toffees steer clear of the relegation zone in the final few weeks of this Premier League campaign.
