In a recent report, LeedsLive conveyed that Barcelona are reportedly showing keen interest in bringing the Leeds United attacking midfielder Raphinha to Camp Nou.
The report also states that a deal worth upto €65m (approximately £55m) could be in play for Raphinha, should the Leeds star decide to move in the upcoming transfer window.
Raphinha’s Impressive Run with Leeds United this season
Raphinha is having a solid campaign at the Elland Road and has established himself as a key player in the Whites’ midfield area. The 25-year-old has scored 10 goals and created 3 assists, over 35 appearances for Leeds United across all fronts.
The 25-year-old has given a good account of himself. He has performed spectacularly in the midfield this season by averaging 1.5 tackles, 1.8 dribbles, 1.6 long balls, 2.4 shots per 90 minutes across all fronts. However, he has only been decent in distributing the ball, making 69% of his passes in English top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Should Barcelona bring the midfielder to Camp Nou?
Raphinha is a versatile midfielder who can play in various positions across the final third. The Brazilian midfielder can make effective runs from the midfield. Barcelona’s attack will significantly strengthen with the addition of Raphinha’s talents as he is quick on his feet which allows him to skip past the opposition and create some meaningful chances in front of the goal. So we can expect the talented individual to add more bite and steel to the Catalan club’s midfield.
Raphinha would be a great fit and can look to give competition in the midfield area. Should the midfielder move to Camp Nou he will most likely contend for a first-team position with Xavi’s midfield trio comprising the likes of Sergio Busquets, Frenkie De Jong and Gavi.
At 25, the Leeds star will only get better with his best days still ahead of him, so it would be wise of Xavi to get him on board when the transfer window commences this summer.
