In a recent report, Marca offered an update on the future of Real Madrid playmaker Isco. It is believed that the Madrid attacker is on the radar of Real Betis with his current contract set to run out in the summer.
Isco’s Growing Frustrations At The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium
Isco is having a frustrating campaign in the Spanish capital as he has struggled to earn regular first-team opportunities under the stewardship of Carlo Ancelotti. The former Valencia youth player has only registered two goals in 15 matches for Los Blancos this season across multiple competitions.
The 30-year-old has seen most of his appearances come as a substitute but has done well to average 0.8 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has been even accurate when distributing possession from midfield, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 90.3% in the Spanish top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Cut Isco Loose This Summer?
Isco remains a decent playmaker in the attacking end of the field and has got the technical qualities to make some intelligent runs with the ball when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field. The Benalmadena-born talent is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder or act as a left-sided wide player if required.
However, at the moment, Isco is playing a sporadic role in Carlo Ancelotti‘s squad. Thus, the Italian tactician should think about cutting the Spaniard loose when his contract expires and the player becomes a free agent at the end of this season.
Los Blancos would be better off cutting off some of their deadwood, so letting Isco leave makes a lot of sense for the Madrid club. The Spanish talent could also benefit from a change of scenery as he looks to get his career back on track in the coming seasons. Ancelotti should think about parting ways with Isco and bring in a suitable replacement capable of fighting for a regular first-team place at the Bernabeu in the future.
