In a recent report, Calciomercato stated that Tottenham Hotspur are set to rival Juventus for AS Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo. It is believed that Spurs are eyeing a move to land the Italian wide player during this summer transfer period.
Zaniolo’s Good Run Of Form In Italian Football
Zaniolo is having a decent campaign at the Stadio Olympico as he has performed at a high level on the right side of Roma’s attack. The 22-year-old has registered seven goals and eight assists in 36 matches for the Italian outfit this season in all competitions.
The Massa-born talent has performed well to average 2.6 shots, 1.0 key passes and 2.2 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even been careful when interchanging possession with his teammates in the final third, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 77.4% in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
Is Zaniolo A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Antonio Conte?
Zaniolo excels at creating space for himself to get a few shots in on target. He is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make a few promising runs out on the wide areas. Zaniolo usually plays as a right-sided wide player but can even fill in as an attacking midfielder or as a secondary striker if required.
The Italy international has added plenty of goals and assists to his game this season and seems to be playing with a lot of confidence. Thus, it makes sense for Spurs to move in for him when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
We can expect Zaniolo to inject more quality to Antonio Conte‘s frontline. He could even serve as an upgrade over Lucas Moura, who has struggled to impress with his performances of late, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
At 22, the future is quite bright for Zaniolo as long as he continues to improve with each year. All in all, the AS Roma youngster will be a great choice for the North London outfit to pursue in this off-season. Zaniolo has what it takes to help Conte’s team challenge for some major silverware over the next decade.
