Tottenham Hotspur faced off against Newcastle United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this evening as they looked to secure a win in front of their home supporters. Spurs made a solid start to the game but conceded the opening goal in the 39th minute when Fabian Schar found the back of the net with a low strike. However, Ben Davies equalised for the North London outfit just four minutes later when he found the back of the net from close range. Both teams went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.
Spurs ramped up the pressure in the second half and got their noses ahead in the 48th minute when Matt Doherty scored with a solid header. Heung-min Son made it 3-0 to Tottenham just minutes later before Emerson Royal got his name on the scoresheet in the 63rd minute. Steven Bergwijn put the icing on the cake for the London giants when he scored with a calm finish in the 83rd minute as Antonio Conte’s men emerged victorious by a 5-1 scoreline.
