In a recent interview with Canale 8’s ‘Ne Parliamo il Martedì’ (via Tutto Napoli), journalist, Antonio Giordano claimed that Napoli forward Victor Osimhen is tempted by a move to Manchester United. Giordano said,
“Osimhen is followed by half the world and it is true that Newcastle showed 100 million in January, but in my opinion, if the English club returns, the Nigerian will not go.
“Meanwhile, Arsenal never stopped following him and, surprisingly, Manchester United. In the personal imagination of a 23-year-old player, United are a temptation and if the Red Devils reach certain figures, history teaches us those certain operations must be done.
“Otherwise, you find yourself as in the case of Allan, who was about to go to PSG and never went there. At certain figures it is madness not to sell.”
Osimhen’s Impressive Numbers In Italian Football
Osimhen is having a decent campaign at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium as he has been responsible for putting in a series of influential displays as the spearhead of Napoli’s attack. The 23-year-old has banged in 15 goals and grabbed four assists in 25 matches for the Naples outfit this season in all competitions.
The Lagos-born talent has proven himself to be a productive presence in the final third by averaging 3.3 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in Serie A. However, he has been sloppy with his ball distribution after making 67% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
Should Manchester United Move In For Osimhen This Summer?
Osimhen can use his quickness and agility to get the better of his marker in the attacking end of the field. He has transformed himself into a decent finisher up top and has got a great leap in him that allows him to win some 50-50 aerial duels for his team. The Nigerian talent has got a great work rate and would be a perfect candidate to lead the line for a top club like Man United next season.
Osimhen will add more pace and goals to the Red Devils’ attack. He would be an ideal, long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who has been guilty of being inconsistent at Old Trafford this season.
At 23, Osimhen has his best years ahead of him which makes him an ideal option for the Mancunian giants this summer. All in all, the Red Devils should consider moving in for the Nigeria international during this summer transfer period.
