In a recent report, AS stated that Real Madrid are eyeing a future move for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos are hoping to move in for the Brazilian talent next year.
Guimaraes’ Good Spell At St. James’ Park So Far
The Rio de Janeiro-born sensation has enjoyed a decent spell with the Magpies since joining from Olympique Lyonnais back in January. The 24-year-old has made 12 appearances for the Tyneside outfit this season, netting three goals and providing one assist across all competitions.
Guimaraes has struggled to earn regular first-team starts but has still performed well to average 2.2 tackles, 0.6 clearances, 1.3 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield after making 84.2% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Snap Guimaraes Up This Summer?
Guimaraes can get stuck in with a few solid tackles to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. He can anchor the midfield well and can create some meaningful openings for his teammates in the opponent’s half. Guimaraes is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also serve as a box-to-box midfielder if needed.
The Brazilian midfield ace can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and can even make some intelligent runs with the ball going forward.
Someone of Guimaraes’ skillset will be a welcome acquisition for Los Blancos as he will undoubtedly increase competition for places within Carlo Ancelotti‘s match-day squad.
At 24, the South American sensation will only get better with each season. Hence, it is only logical for the Madrid giants to snap him up when the transfer window reopens later this year.
Guimaraes could even help Real Madrid challenge for some major silverware over the next few years. Plus, he could serve as a good successor to Luka Modric, who is entering the twilight years of his playing career at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Therefore, Ancelotti should consider moving in for the Brazilian playmaker during the summer transfer window.
