Arsenal looks to bounce back against Brighton as champions league qualification is at stake. They are heading into the contest after arguably having their worst performance of this season against Crystal Palace on Monday Evening. The gunners have the odds over the seagulls and look confident in grabbing the win.
Arsenal Team News
Takehiro Tomiyasu (calf) and Kieran Tierney (knee) are having lengthy spells on the sidelines due to their injuries. Thomas Partey is doubtful to start due to a possible thigh injury.
“I don’t know, but he felt something in the same area that he got injured previously, so it’s a big concern.”- said Mikel Arteta when asked about Partey’s Injury.
“These young boys have been doing really well, so I don’t like to be unfair because when they do something it’s because they’re young. They’ve been playing extremely well, they’ve been performing under pressure and doing what we ask them to do, and today we didn’t do it.”
“We’ve got a game in hand still and we need to play. We know that with nine games a lot of things are going to happen, we have to play each other and we have to play some big games coming up. We have to focus on ourselves and the problem that we had today is not Spurs, it was us and what we did in the first half.”
The Spaniard looks to make changes in the line-up but will probably opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation.
4-2-3-1 Arsenal Predicted Lineup Vs Brighton
Defence
Aron Ramsdale might continue to be in the goal. He hopes to perform better even though he conceded some cheap goals in the South London defeat.
Gabriel will continue with Ben White to form the heart of Arsenal’s backline. Arsenal are unbeaten against the seagulls in the last three contests keeping a clean sheet every time, and we will likely see yet another one this time around.
Nuno Tavares will likely fill Tierney’s position with his impressive performance on the night of the horrendous defeat. Cedric Soares should continue on the flank as the right-back. Both of them are highly capable of creating opportunities for the men upfront.
Midfield
Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey have fulfilled the holding midfield positions up until now but Partey’s injury situation might force Arteta to use Albert Sambi Lokonga.
Odegaard should continue in the attacking midfield position to supply the ball to the wingers Emile Smith Rowe and Bukoya Saka. Gabriel Martinelli would likely be substituted for Rowe in the latter half.
Attack
Alexandre Lacazette will lead the attack against the visitors. Brighton’s backline might face difficulties against the French striker while he fancies his chances of finding the back of the net. It would be interesting for the Gunners strikers to know that the seagulls have never recorded consecutive shutouts against the gunners before.
Eddie Nketiah will have to settle for a place on the bench.
