In a recent report, Leeds Live stated that Leeds United are showing interest in New York City forward Valentín Castellanos. It is believed that the Whites are hoping to land the Argentine striker during the summer transfer window.
Castellanos’ Decent Form In American Football This Season
Castellanos has produced a run of impressive displays as the focal point of New York’s attack. The 23-year-old has banged in eight goals and grabbed four assists in 12 matches for the American outfit this season in multiple competitions.
The Mendoza-born talent has caught the eye by averaging 3.0 shots, 2.3 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Major League Soccer. However, he needs to improve his link-up play in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 63.6% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Should Leeds Boss Jesse Marsch Get Castellanos On Board?
Castellanos has decent pace under his belt and can make some promising runs with the ball in the final third. He is a hard-working forward who has added plenty of goals and assists to his game this season. Castellanos is primarily a centre-forward but can also operate as a wide player on either flank if required.
Hence, Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch would be wise to engineer a move to bring the Argentine attacker to Elland Road during the summer transfer period.
Castellanos will bring a lot of goals and creativity to Leeds’ attack and could serve as an ideal replacement for Danny Ings who has failed to find consistency with his performances for the West Yorkshire club during this campaign. Plus, he will increase competition for places within Marsch’s match-day squad.
At 23, the Mendoza-born talent has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good fit for the Whites to consider in the off-season.
