In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, transfer insider Dean Jones mentioned that Leeds United could move in for Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis. Jones said,
“From what I understand, they would much prefer to have somebody who has had a taste of life in England, scoring goals at the top level, so Dennis might be a player they sound out.
“I don’t think it’s one that’s been mooted yet but, absolutely, that is the level of player that they’re looking at.”
Dennis’ Impressive Form In English Football This Season
Dennis is having a fruitful season at Vicarage Road as he has been responsible for putting in a series of influential performances as the focal point of Watford’s attack. The 24-year-old has banged in ten goals and grabbed five assists in 32 matches for the Hornets this season across all fronts.
The Abuja-born talent has caught the eye by averaging 1.5 tackles, 1.9 shots, 0.9 key passes and 2.1 dribbles per game in the Premier League. However, he has to be tidier with his ball distribution after completing 67.6% of his attempted passes in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).
What Will Dennis Add To Leeds United Head Coach Jesse Marsch’s Team?
Dennis has got the pace to cause a lot of trouble for the opposition defenders. He has added plenty of goals and assists to his game this season but has struggled to help the Hornets pick up a run of positive results in the Premier League.
The Nigerian striker will undoubtedly add more goals to Jesse Marsch‘s frontline and help the Yorkshire giants challenge for a top-half finish in the Premier League next season.
At 24, Dennis has got a bright future ahead of him, so the Whites would be wise to engineer a move to bring him to the red half of Merseyside when the transfer window reopens later this year.
Furthermore, Dennis would be an upgrade over Daniel James who has struggled to live up to the high expectations surrounding his move to Elland Road. Thus, it makes sense for Leeds to move in for the Watford star ahead of the new season.
