Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has shown a keen interest in signing Fc Porto’s star Otavio Edmilson da Silva Monteiro as Daily Mail had reported and they are weighing upon it according to a transfer rumour that has emerged recently.
Liverpool looking to bolster their midfield.
With James Milner at 36, he deems unfit for a regular role. Thiago and Jordan Henderson are at a veteran stage and injuries have kept them from performing. The contracts of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-chamberlain expire in 2023 and they aren’t guaranteed to stay.
Otavio comes in at the rescue as he has set up 61 goals for Porto so far. The 27-year-old has flourished yet again, registering 11 assists in 25 Primeira Liga appearances, also chipping in with three goals. He can play centrally or out wide. Luis Diaz and Otavio were a promising duo in Porto and we can look forward to seeing them reunited at the Merseyside.
An impending battle is imminent for Otavio’s transfer.
The Porto star has been attracting a lot of attention from the premier league, given his impressive form. Manchester United and Newcastle United have set their sights on the midfielder. Liverpool will have to fight it out amongst them to grab the deal but any club looking forward to signing him would have to pay a release clause of £50m upfront according to A Bola.
Jota, Diaz and now Otavio.
The Reds had signed Diogo Jota in late September of 2020 for £41m who had a promising debut season, although his form has declined in recent appearances. Earlier in January Luis Diaz was bought at a heavily reduced fee of £37m. ,
While Jurgen Klopp is still looking to strengthen his squad he has gone back to raid Porto again. It will be interesting to look at how the three Portuguese push each other going forward at Anfield. Their chemistry could give a new sprinkle in the midfield and that’s what the Reds need at the moment looking at their veterans missing out due to injuries.
