If a report from The Sun is believed to be true, Everton are willing to listen to offers for Allan in the upcoming summer window. The Brazilian has a deal until next season, but the Toffees would prefer to cash in on him rather than losing for nothing a year later. He has been below par so far this term and the Merseysiders are not considering an extension beyond his current contract.
The Toffees have been struggling for Premier League survival and the situation has not improved either even after appointing Frank Lampard as the new Goodison Park boss. They are currently 17th in the league standings and the gaffer must turn things around immediately to avoid a massive setback by the end of May.
Having said that, a club of Everton’s stature should deliver under pressure. They must win the games in hand over the fellow relegation battlers and climb up the league ladder in the remaining fixtures. Lampard is already eyeing a squad overhaul to undergo transition and the exit of Allan might instigate the process of a mass exodus prior to the upcoming campaign.
Why Everton Need An Overhaul In The Middle Of The Park
The Selecao international reunited with Carlo Ancelotti at Everton back in the summer of 2020. They splashed a fee of around £21.7m to secure his services from Napoli and the midfielder, too, showed his strength in the middle of the park with his tackling traits, blocks and the ability to break up play from a deep-lying role. Although he has mostly been regular over the past two seasons, the lack of consistency of late led to frailty in the centre of the pitch.
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old midfield star can’t be blamed entirely for the horror show. The club had some disastrous transfer windows, also the frequent managerial alterations impacted the stability in recent years. They also have the likes of Fabian Delph and Andre Gomes in their ranks who failed to live up to expectations since their move to the blue half of Merseyside. Young academy graduate Tom Davies is recovering from a season-ending knee injury and the Toffees are now relying on Abdoulaye Doucouré along with Donny van de Beek who only joined on loan from Manchester United during the winter window.
Allan, too, is not happy at his current club and according to the rumours, Lazio are leading the race to have him in their squad. Whether they match Everton’s asking fee for the veteran Brazilian remains to be seen.
