Everton entertained Manchester United at Goodison Park earlier this afternoon as they hoped to grind out a result on their travels. The Toffees made a bright start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 27th minute courtesy of Anthony Gordon’s deflected goal. Frank Lampard’s men sat on their lead well and went into the half-time break 1-0 to the good.
The Merseyside outfit were solid in the second half and did enough to grind out a 1-0 victory in front of their home supporters.
Let’s take a look at how each Everton player performed during the clash against the Red Devils.
GK: Jordan Pickford – 8/10
The English keeper made a few excellent saves to restrict the Red Devils from scoring a goal.
RB: Seamus Coleman – 7/10
He was solid at the back and made some energetic runs with the ball down the right flank.
CB: Michael Keane – 7/10
Keane cleared his lines when needed and even made a couple of blocks inside his half.
CB: Ben Godfrey – 7.5/10
The English defensive ace made numerous clearances during the game and deserves a lot of credit for keeping a clean sheet today.
LB: Vitaliy Mykolenko – 7.5/10
He performed his defensive duties well and was quite lively going forward.
CM: Allan – 6.5/10
Allan got stuck in with some crunching tackles to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park.
CM: Fabian Delph – 7/10
He anchored the midfield with a lot of conviction and managed to offer decent protection for his teammates at the back.
CM: Alex Iwobi – 7/10
Iwobi worked hard at both ends of the field but was a bit untidy with the ball at his feet.
RW: Anthony Gordon – 8/10
Gordon worked hard and was a constant threat in the final third. He was fortunate to score with his deflected attempt in the first half.
ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 6.5/10
The English striker was strong in the air but hardly got a sniff at goal.
LW: Richarlison – 7.5/10
The Brazilian attacker won his fair share of aerial duels and caused a few problems for the Man United defenders.
Substitutes:
LW: Demarai Gray – 6/10
He offered very little after coming off the bench.
CM: Abdoulaye Doucoure – N/A
Doucoure didn’t get enough minutes to warrant a rating.
