Everton clashed heads with West Ham United at the London Stadium earlier today as they looked to earn a positive result in the Premier League. The Toffees made a poor start to the game and conceded the opening goal when Aaron Cresswell scored for the Hammers with a superb freekick. Frank Lampard’s men went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.
Mason Holgate equalised for the Toffees just eight minutes into the second half. However, Jarrod Bowen restored West Ham’s lead in the 58th minute. To make matters worse, Michael Keane was sent off just seven minutes later as the contest finished with Everton suffering a 2-1 defeat on the road.
Let’s take a look at how each Everton player performed during the clash against the Hammers.
GK: Jordan Pickford – 6/10
The English goalie made a couple of important clearances but ended up conceding a goal in each half.
RB: Jonjoe Kenny – 6.5/10
Kenny kept a good shape when defending inside his half and made a few decent chances in the final third.
CB: Ben Godfrey – 6.5/10
He made a few important clearances on the defensive end of the field and was tidy with his passing.
CB: Michael Keane – 5/10
Keane earned the ball back a few times but let his teammates down by getting sent off in the second half.
LB: Vitaliy Mykolenko – 6.5/10
Mykolenko was solid when defending at the back but offered very little going forward.
CM: Mason Holgate – 7.5/10
He gave a good account of himself at both ends of the field and deserves credit for scoring the equaliser for Everton early in the second half.
CM: Abdoulaye Doucoure – 6/10
Doucoure struggled to get a foothold in the game and produced a lackluster display in midfield.
CM: Alex Iwobi – 6/10
He made some decent chances for others around him but never looked like he would score.
LW: Richarlison – 7/10
The Brazilian talent had a few shot attempts and ended the game with an assist to his name.
RW: Demarai Gray – 7/10
Gray made a few decent runs with the ball but failed to register a goal.
ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 7/10
He was a constant threat in the attacking end of the field and was unfortunate to hit the crossbar.
Substitutes:
ST: Anthony Gordon – 6/10
His impact on the game was minimal.
