In a recent report, Birminghamlive conveyed that Aston Villa are eyeing a summer move for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma. It is believed that the Villans are planning to move in for the 25-year-old midfielder with 12 months left on his contract after the end of this season.
Bissouma’s Decent Run With Brighton
Yves Bissouma is having a solid campaign at the Falmer Stadium and has established himself as a key player in Brighton’s midfield. The 25-year-old has scored 1 goal and made 1 assist over 28 appearances across all competition.
Although the Mali international does not have anything spectacular to show with his offensive numbers, he has performed spectacularly in the defence for the Seagulls this season by averaging 3.1 tackles, 2.1 interceptions and 1.7 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the midfield after making 88.9% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Is Bissouma The Right Fit For Aston Villa?
Yves Bissouma is a ferocious tackler of the ball looking to retain possession aggressively with hardbound tackles and clever interceptions. The midfielder can strike the ball with power and precision from long range. He has got the accuracy to distribute the ball efficiently in the midfield.
The Mali international can hold the ball in the opposition half and is a strong force to reckon with while in defence.
At 25, Bissouma still has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good fit for the Villans this summer. The midfielder will add more tenacity and depth to the Villans’ defence.
Signing up Bissouma will be a decent move for Gerrard’s side as the midfielder could help the squad in the English top-flight over the coming seasons. Furthermore, he will only get better with each season. Thus, Aston Villa would be wise to make a move to lure Bissouma to Villa Park when the transfer window commences in the summer.
