In a recent report, talkSPORT revealed that Aston Villa are keeping a keen eye on PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke. It has been claimed that the Villans are monitoring the progress of the English wide player.
Mudueke’s Impressive Numbers In Dutch Football
The 20-year-old has experienced a fruitful campaign in Dutch football after putting in some influential performances on the right side of Eindhoven’s attack. The London-born talent has been involved in 31 matches for the Dutch outfit this season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in the process across all fronts.
Madueke has caught the eye by averaging 2.0 shots, 0.8 key passes and 2.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has even been excellent when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 83.1% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Dutch football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Madueke Add To Aston Villa Boss Steven Gerrard’s Side?
Madueke can use his quickness to get the better of his marker out on the flanks. He comes alive when left isolated in a 1v1 situation with his marker and excels at generating a yard of space for himself to get a few shot attempts in on target. Madueke is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a centre-forward if needed.
The Dutch sensation has added his fair share of goals and assists to his game during this campaign but only time will tell whether he is good enough to cope with the physical nature and high intensity of English football.
We can expect Madueke to add some much-needed firepower to the Villans boss Steven Gerrard‘s attack. Plus, he could be an upgrade over Bertrand Traore who has struggled to play a prominent role at Villa Park this season.
All in all, it makes sense for Aston Villa to make a move to acquire the Dutch wing wizard’s services during this summer transfer period. At 20, the future is quite bright for Madueke as long as he continues to improve himself with each season.
