In a recent report, Marca mentioned that Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic is a subject of interest from England with Arsenal and Everton hoping to land him in the summer. It is understood that the Serbian forward is fed up with his situation at Los Blancos and could welcome a change of scenery during this summer transfer window.
Jovic’s Growing Frustrations At The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium
Jovic has endured a frustrating campaign at the Spanish capital as he has often found himself behind Karim Benzema in Carlo Ancelotti’s pecking order. The 24-year-old has scored one goal and provided two assists in 17 matches for the Madrid giants this season in various competitions.
The ex-Benfica talent has only managed to average 1.0 shots, 0.3 key passes and 0.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. However, he has interchanged possession relatively well in the final third after making 78.8% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Should Real Madrid Let Jovic Go This Summer?
Jovic can be a streaky goal-scorer when he is playing regularly on the field. He had a good goal-scoring record during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt and with the Serbian national team. However, things have not fallen in place for him at the Bernabeu so far. Thus, it makes sense for the player to seek a move elsewhere in search of greener pastures in the coming seasons.
Los Blancos would be better off letting Jovic go and using the money generated from his sale to strengthen other areas of their match-day squad. He is playing nowhere near good enough to compete with Karim Benzema for a place in Ancelotti‘s first XI and seems to have been frozen out at the Spanish capital.
At 24, the Serbia international has still got plenty of time to turn his career around for the better. Thus, it is only fair to the striker for Ancelotti to cut him loose when the transfer window commences at the end of this campaign. The Spanish giants can also benefit from getting the Serbian attacker’s name off the wage bill ahead of the new campaign.
