In a recent report, Defensa Central claimed that Real Madrid playmaker Marco Asensio is on the radar of AC Milan this summer. It is understood that the Italian giants are showing interest in recruiting the Spanish winger from Los Blancos at the end of this season.

Asensio is having a decent season at the Spanish capital after putting in a series of impressive performances as a key member of Real Madrid’s frontline. The 26-year-old has banged in nine goals and grabbed one assist in 29 matches for the Madrid giants during this campaign across various competitions.

The Spanish sensation deserves a pat on the back for averaging 2.2 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the final third as evidenced by his pass success rate of 87.9% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).

Should Real Madrid Let Asensio Go This Summer?

Asensio has got the vision to play some decisive passes in the attacking end of the field and can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range.

The Spaniard has done well to establish himself as a consistent performer in the final third. He can keep possession moving quite well in the opponent’s half. At 26, Asensio is playing at his prime and could become even more productive in the coming seasons. The former Mallorca youth player is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a winger on the left flank or play as an attacking midfielder down the middle if needed.

However, if Los Blancos end up acquiring Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer, they can afford to let Asensio leave. The French superstar will clearly be an upgrade over the Spain international at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
