Rangers have already surprised many by roping in Aaron Ramsey on loan from Juventus and his fellow compatriot Gareth Bale is now linked over a shock transfer after the bookies have priced Ibrox as one of his potential destinations. This has surfaced following his recent comments as quoted by the Daily Record.
“He’s said he’s enjoying it at Rangers and it’s a big club. Enjoying your football is the most important thing because if you’re happy in what you’re doing you’re going to play better.”
Told the Welsh wizard who is gaining the media attention following his stunning brace against Austria in the World Cup qualifiers. His Real Madrid contract is finally reaching its conclusion by the end of the current campaign and the Gers have been named as 12/1 to be his next club on a Bosman. He has made 5 appearances for Los Blancos so far this term, but the lack of playing minutes did not stop him from maintaining his mastery in Wales colours.
Having said that, Bale will be 33 next season and there’s little possibility of securing another high-profile transfer at the twilight of a glorious career. However, he still has a couple of years left in his game and the Gers must explore the opportunity in case the attacker accepts a drastic wage cut in the forthcoming future.
Why Rangers Must Step Up The Chase
Rangers are going strong in Europe and have progressed to the quarterfinals of the prestigious Europa League competition. They also conquered the Premiership crown last season but have lost the plot lately under Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Celtic have a three-point cushion at the top of the standings and are again favourites for a domestic treble after a dreadful 2020-21 campaign. Moreover, they roped in an array of new names over the past couple of windows and the Light Blues, too, must make some statement signings to maintain their supremacy in Scottish football.
While it is still unclear whether Ramsey’s loan would be made permanent in due time, the former Arsenal star is slowly attuning to the demands after a difficult start to life in Glasgow. The Light Blues have secured quite a few impressive names on free transfers and the tradition might continue with Bale’s arrival.
The famous Glasgow Rangers are not in the pole position though, with his former club Tottenham Hotspur leading the race (with 2/1) in the Oddsmaker list. He spent the previous season on loan in North London and fired in 16 goals across competitions. It remains to be seen whether the Gers step up the chase and show their interest in the coming days.
