In a recent interview with Brazilian TV (via Birmingham Mail), on-loan Aston Villa playmaker Philippe Coutinho revealed that he is enjoying his life in England. Coutinho said,
“I had a change of club and I was very welcomed by all the players, members of staff and the fans. So I’m in an amazing place right now and I’m very happy to be there.”
Coutinho’s Excellent Loan Spell At Villa Park
The Brazil international is enjoying a fruitful loan spell with the West Midlands club after joining from Barcelona back in January. Coutinho has registered four goals and three assists in ten appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side this season across various competitions.
The 29-year-old has proven his worth by averaging 2.5 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the final third based on his pass success rate of 83.2% in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Should Aston Villa Sign Coutinho Permanently In The Summer?
Coutinho is a decent playmaker in the attacking end of the field and can still create plenty of promising opportunities for his teammates up top. He can strike the ball with venom and accuracy which makes him such a potent goal-threat from long range. Coutinho is primarily an attacking midfielder but can play as a wide player on either flank if required.
At the moment, the 65-time Brazil international is enjoying his football under the watchful eyes of Steven Gerrard. Thus, it makes a lot of sense for both the player and the West Midlands club to extend their time together beyond this season.
At 29, Coutinho has still got a lot of football left in him and could help the Villans push for a European place in the Premier League over the next few years. Thus, Gerrard should prioritise on sealing a permanent move for the Brazilian sensation as he could be a key asset for them in the coming seasons as long as the player can steer clear of injuries.
