Liverpool entertained Norwich City at Anfield earlier tonight as they looked to earn a victory in front of their home fans. The Reds made a bright start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 27th minute courtesy of Takumi Minamino’s great finish. The Japan international doubled his team’s advantage just 12 minutes later when he scored again with an unstoppable strike. Jurgen Klopp’s men went into the half-time break 2-0 up on the scoreline.
The Merseyside outfit took their foot off the gas in the second half and conceded a goal in the 76th minute when Lukas Rupp found the back of the net with a great strike. The match ended with Liverpool grinding out a 2-1 victory at home which booked their spot in the next round of the FA Cup.
Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player performed during the match against the Canaries.
GK: Alisson Becker – 6.5/10
The Brazilian keeper passed the ball relatively well and made one important save late in the game.
RB: James Milner – 6.5/10
Milner kept a good shape at the back and even delivered some inviting crosses into the Norwich penalty box.
CB: Ibrahima Konate – 7.5/10
The French defender did well to keep most of the opposition attackers quiet. However, he will be disappointed after conceding a late goal.
CB: Joe Gomez – 7/10
He used his pace well to mop up the danger when needed and produced a solid display inside his half.
LB: Konstantinos Tsimikas – 7/10
The Greek left-back was always willing to get forward and express himself. However, he looked a bit tired towards the latter stages of the game.
CM: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6.5/10
He made some driving runs with the ball towards the Norwich penalty area but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.
CM: Jordan Henderson – 7/10
The Liverpool captain was full of energy and played some excellent passes during the game.
CM: Curtis Jones – 7/10
Jones was quite unfortunate to hit the crossbar with his goal-bound attempt. He was replaced early in the second half.
RW: Takumi Minamino – 8.5/10
Minamino scored two goals from a similar position in the first half and ended up winning the game for the Reds tonight.
ST: Divock Origi – 7/10
He held the ball up quite well at times and was responsible for setting up Minamino’s first goal.
LW: Diogo Jota – 6.5/10
Jota caused a lot of headaches for the opposition but wasted two good chances to get his name on the scoresheet.
Substitutes:
CM: Harvey Elliott – 6.5/10
He interchanged possession with conviction but didn’t do enough to score.
CM: Tyler Morton – 6/10
Morton struggled to get into the flow of the game.
LW: Luis Diaz – N/A
He didn’t get enough time to influence the game
ST: Sadio Mane – N/A
