Manchester City faced off against Peterborough United at the Weston Homes Stadium earlier tonight as they focused on earning a positive result on the road. Man City dominated the game in the first 45 minutes but were unable to break the opposition down as they went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
Riyad Mahrez finally broke the deadlock in the 60th minute with a great finish. Jack Grealish doubled Man City’s advantage just seven minutes later when he found the back of the net with a tidy finish. The contest ended with Pep Guardiola’s men earning a comfortable 2-0 win which ensured their place in the next round of the FA Cup.

Foden’s clever movement and creativity caused all sorts of problems for the Peterborough defenders. He ended the game with two assists to his name.
CM: Fernandinho – 7/10
The Brazilian midfielder protected his backline well and made two good chances in the final third.
CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 7.5/10
Gundogan made a few promising runs with the ball and engineered some inviting chances in the attacking end of the field.

Mahrez caused all kinds of headaches for the opposition and opened the goal-scoring at the hour mark with a good finish.
ST: Gabriel Jesus – 7/10
He was always willing to have a strike at goal and made a couple of clever runs as well. However, there was no goal for him tonight.
LW: Jack Grealish – 8/10
Grealish created a lot of decent goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates and scored his team’s second goal in the 67th minute.

Laporte dealt with mostly everything that came his way defensively and managed to secure a clean sheet in the second half.
