In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, transfer insider Dean Jones mentioned that Manchester City could move in for Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix. Jones said,
“Manchester City have seriously looked at Joao Felix for some time, and if their main plans – Kane and Haaland – don’t work out, it would not surprise me at all to see them try to sign the Atletico Madrid star instead.
“People close to the situation have left me in no doubt about how much he is admired within City.”
Felix’s Up And Down Season At The Wanda Metropolitano
Felix is having a tough campaign at the Spanish capital but has done well to put in a few productive performances as the focal point of Diego Simeone’s attack. The 22-year-old has registered five goals and five assists in 26 matches for the Spanish side this season on all fronts.
The former Benfica player has shown some glimpses of his brilliance by averaging 1.6 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in La Liga. He has even interchanged possession relatively well in the final third after completing 77.1% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Felix Bring To Manchester City?
Felix can use his pace and agility to make some clever runs with the ball in the attacking end of the pitch. He can be a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing with confidence on the field.
The Portuguese attacker packs a lot of power with his shot attempts and can even set up some inviting chances for his teammates up top. He has got the potential to become a top player in his position someday.
We can expect Felix to bring more firepower to Pep Guardiola‘s attack. Man City are in dire need of a new centre-forward as they are yet to replace Sergio Aguero at the Etihad Stadium. Thus, Felix will be a good fit for the Mancunian giants to consider during this summer transfer window. At 22, the future is quite promising for the Portuguese frontman which makes him a worthy target for Guardiola to pursue at the end of this season.
