According to Foot Mercato, the race to sign Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer is heating up. Liverpool are among the clubs said to be interested in the services of the AS Monaco midfielder, joining a long list of clubs that includes Chelsea and Real Madrid. While Monaco are expected to sell Tchouameni at the end of the season, the midfielder could cost up to €50 million.
Aurelien Tchouameni’s Rapid Rise To Prominence
A product of the Bordeaux youth academy, Aurelien Tchouameni has enjoyed immense success since joining AS Monaco at the start of 2020. He has made an immediate impact for Les Monegasques, becoming a vital cog in Niko Kovac’s tactical setup.
Even after Kovac’s departure, Tchouameni has continued to play a key role at Monaco. He has impressed the onlookers with his ability to control possession and offer useful forward balls. He is indeed a versatile operator who can not only offer security in possession but also create chances in the final third.
Tchouameni’s partnership with Youssouf Fofana in the middle of the park has been crucial in helping Monaco get back to their usual best. Even though the club have endured a difficult season this term, the two were crucial in the recent 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain, with Tchouameni producing a match-winning performance.
The youngster’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with the midfielder winning seven caps for the French national team. He is expected to earn a place in France’s World Cup squad later this year while a big-money move to the Premier League could be on the horizon as well.
A Perfect Option For Liverpool?
Liverpool’s interest in Aurelien Tchouameni is not very surprising as the club have fears over the continuance of several star players in the team. The likes of Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho are nearing the final phase of their respective careers while James Milner is yet to sign a contract.
As such, the Reds are in desperate need of some youthful exuberance in the middle of the park and that is where Aurelien Tchouameni comes into the fray.
The French international can add the much-needed creative prowess in midfield while his technical brilliance could make him an ideal partner for the likes of Henderson and Fabinho. He can initially serve as an alternative for Thiago before eventually taking on the Spaniard’s role in the long term.
At the age of just 22, Tchouameni has a bright future ahead of him and his potential addition to Anfield could significantly improve the overall quality of the Liverpool side, making him a logical investment for the Reds.
