According to TuttoJuve, Juventus have set their sights on Gabriel Jesus. The Bianconeri are planning for life without Paulo Dybala, who is set to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer. It has put Juve on the hunt for a new attacker and they would be open to making a move for Jesus, as long as the price tag doesn’t go above the €30 million mark.
Gabriel Jesus’ Struggles At Manchester City
Formerly of Palmeiras, Gabriel Jesus has been a member of the Manchester City side since the start of 2017. He was brought in as a long-term prospect who was expected to take Europe by storm and eventually emerge as the successor of Sergio Aguero.
Five years into his spell at Etihad, the Brazilian has scored 88 goals in 224 competitive appearances. He hasn’t quite managed to win the heart of Pep Guardiola, which has resulted in a lack of game-time even after the departure of Aguero.
Especially in the current season, Gabriel Jesus has earned only 15 starts in the league, scoring just two goals. His lack of productivity has forced Guardiola to rely heavily on the services of Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez, as far as the goalscoring unit is concerned.
Gabriel’s lack of game-time has now led to speculation over his future at Manchester City. With the Brazilian seemingly falling behind in the pecking order, he could be on the verge of an exit in the summer transfer window.
Should Guardiola Let Him Go?
Manchester City are bracing themselves for an important summer ahead. The Citizens have managed to relinquish a splendid lead at the top of the Premier League table, which will raise concerns over certain weaknesses in the team.
One of them could be the absence of a reliable goalscorer. Gabriel Jesus, in that regard, certainly doesn’t have the faith of Guardiola, with the player himself struggling with consistency when given the chance.
Hence, it could be the right choice on Man City’s part to offload the Brazilian, especially knowing the fact that the club are in contention to sign a top striker like Harry Kane or Erling Haaland in the summer.
Jesus’ exit, to that end, could go a long way in freeing up space in the attacking department while giving Guardiola a financial injection as the Catalan looks to bring in some talented players for the new season.
