Everton currently find themselves in relegation danger as they are sitting just above the drop zone with 11 matches remaining in this Premier League campaign.
Everton’s Nightmare Season In English Football So Far
The Toffees made a turbulent start to this campaign as they struggled to pick up a positive run of results in the English first division. The Merseyside club got eliminated by Queens Park Rangers on penalties in the third round of the EFL Cup which served as a bitter blow for the club’s fans and their hopes of some silverware this season.
Rafael Benitez was dismissed as the Everton manager back in January before Frank Lampard was appointed as the new head coach. The Chelsea legend managed to help the Toffees reach the quarterfinals of the FA Cup where they suffered a poor 4-0 loss away at Crystal Palace. It was another major setback as Everton’s struggles have continued in league football which has left them hovering above the relegation zone.
What Should Everton Head Coach Frank Lampard Do In The Remainder Of This Campaign?
At the moment, the Toffees should prioritize on getting themselves to safety by picking up a few positive results in the Premier League.
Everton have got some tough fixtures coming up against West Ham United, Burnley and Manchester United at the start of April. Lampard has to make sure his side picks up some points in those fixtures. Otherwise, the Merseysiders could get dragged into a relegation dogfight in the final few weeks of this campaign.
A lot will also ride on the shoulders of Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin as they will be expected to bang in some important goals and get the Toffees out of relegation trouble after this international break. However, their form has been poor, to say the least, at Goodison Park during this campaign.
Without the Premier League, Everton have nothing to play for this season as they have been knocked out of both cup competitions. Therefore, Lampard should solely focus on avoiding the drop and get to the end of this campaign when he would be able to inject some quality into his squad.
