Atletico Madrid faced off against Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier tonight as they looked to grind out a good result and secure a passage through to the quarterfinal stage of the UEFA Champions League. The Madrid giants held firm in the first half and managed to get their noses ahead in the 41st minute courtesy of Renan Lodi’s header. Atleti went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.
Diego Simeone’s men sat on their lead well and managed to grind out a 1-0 victory (2-1 on aggregate) at the Theatre of Dreams.

GK: Jan Oblak – 8.5/10
The Slovenian keeper made a handful of solid saves during the game and secured a well-deserved clean sheet away from home.
CB: Stefan Savic – 7/10
He earned possession back a couple of times and cleared the danger when required.
CB: Jose Gimenez – 7/10
Gimenez won his fair share of aerial duels and didn’t take any risks when putting his foot through the ball.
CB: Reinildo Mandava – 6.5/10
He was strong in the air and made one clearance during the game.
CDM: Hector Herrera – 6.5/10
Herrera anchored the midfield with conviction and made life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park.
RW: Marcos Llorente – 6.5/10
The Spaniard got stuck in with a few crunching tackles but offered very little in the final third.
CM: Renan Lodi – 8/10
Lodi scored the only goal of the game with a good header in the 41st minute. He also earned possession back a few times for his team.
CM: Koke – 7/10
The Spanish midfielder was solid when defending inside his half and made a couple of clever runs from midfield.
LW: Rodrigo De Paul – 7/10
De Paul caused a few problems for the opposition and was tidy with his passing.
ST: Joao Felix – 6.5/10
Felix engineered one good chance in the attacking end of the field but hardly got a sniff at goal.
ST: Antoine Griezmann – 8/10
The Frenchman did his fair share of defending and was responsible for setting up Lodi’s match-winner.
