According to Jeunes Footeux, Arsenal are closely monitoring the progress of Renato Sanches. The north London giants are increasingly keen on shoring up their options in the middle of the park next summer and have identified the LOSC Lille starlet as the ideal candidate. Sanches is likely to be offloaded by Lille in the summer, with the club valuing him at around €20 million.
Renato Sanches: What Does He Bring To The Table?
Renato Sanches has been a major success at Lille since joining the club in 2019. During his ongoing two and a half year spell at the club, the midfielder has racked up 82 competitive appearances. In his second season, he even played a crucial role in helping Les Dogues seal the Ligue 1 title, in what was one of the greatest sporting miracles in the history of the French top flight.
A central midfielder by trade, Sanches has enjoyed a swift revival since his poor spell at Bayern Munich. He has redeemed himself with his performances in Ligue 1, showing excellent dynamism in the middle of the park, which is combined with his energy and enthusiasm, making him quite a handy outlet in the second line of press.
In addition to his work ethic, Sanches is a versatile midfielder, who can operate out wide if necessary and is more than capable of acting as a chance creator. The Portuguese international also brings vast experience to the table, even on the international stage, having won 32 caps for his country.
A Wise Option For Arsenal?
Arsenal are in desperate need of reinforcements in the midfield department next season. The club is currently banking on the services of Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard, with the latter not even considered as a fully-fledged central midfielder.
Albert Sambi Lokonga is another option but the former Anderlecht youngster lacks experience at the highest level of football. And this is where the addition of someone like Renato Sanches could be useful next season.
Having played in three different leagues, including the Premier League, the Portuguese international offers no shortage of experience and his aggression and ability to carry the ball forward could be exactly what Arsenal require next season.
Indeed, Sanches could be an excellent partner for someone like Thomas Partey, with the duo offering a good balance of possessions security, solidity and creativity in the middle of the park. And for a fee of just €20 million, Sanches could be nothing less than a bargain for the Gunners next summer.
