According to a recent report by Sport, Tottenham Hotspur are heavily interested to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie in the summer transfer window. It is believed that Spurs have placed a powerful offer on the table for the Ivory Coast international whose contract ends in the summer of 2022. The 25-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Barcelona earlier but Spurs are believed to have upped the ante and are strongly pursuing the Serie A midfielder. Fabio Paratici has identified Franck Kessie as a top priority signing this summer and is also expected to face heavy competition from other top clubs in Europe.
Franck Kessie A Solid Midfielder At AC Milan
Franck Kessi has been a midfield mainstay for the Rossoneri’s for a few years now and has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the league. The Ivory Coast international has been key to getting back the club in the UEFA Champions League after a long wait this season. He had a terrific 2020-21 season where Kessi scored 13 goals and provided 4 assists in AC Milan’s best league finish in a while. The 25-year-old has 40 goals in the league from the middle of the park which truly shows his quality even going forward.
AC Milan are in a title race this season and Kessie has been one of their best performers on the field. His all-round ability has attracted a lot of offers from top clubs in Europe and it remains to be seen if at all Spurs can land him next season or not.
Right Choice For Conte?
Tottenham Hotspur managed to sign a couple of players in the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski in the January transfer window but reportedly failed to land their priority targets. They also saw a few players leave the club during the window in the likes of Dele Alli, Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Bryan Gil. This transfer strategy has freed up some space in the midfield department as Spurs now look to fill up the spots in the next transfer window.
Franck Kessi is a dynamic midfielder who can bring solidity to the Spurs midfield. He has the ability to shield the defence and also arrive late into the box to chip in with goals going forward. He is physically strong and is also strong in the air. Antonio Conte demands high levels of intensity and work ethic from his players and Kessie might be the perfect one for him. Now it remains to be seen if Spurs can see out the competition and land the midfielder next summer.
