Celtic are unstoppable right now in the Premiership under Ange Postecoglou. They are the new leaders following last midweek’s Old Firm derby triumph and the streak continued this afternoon against Motherwell at Fir Park. The Hoops clinched a thumping 4-0 win to put the pressure back on the reigning champions Rangers.
Below are the Celtic players rated in their win against Motherwell.
Joe Hart: 7.5
A comfortable outing for the English custodian who was hardly tested between the sticks. Made a flying save early into the second half to retain a clean sheet.
Anthony Ralston: 8
Earned a start as the right fullback ahead of Josip Juranovic. Enjoyed his minutes down the flank with persistent attacking runs, crosses and link-up football. Played his part in the build-up of Rogic’s second moments before the half-time whistle.
Cameron Carter-Vickers: 7.5
A commanding display from the USMNT international who controlled the show from the heart of the defensive line. Won the duels, showed great confidence with the ball at his feet, also did well to play it out from the back to instigate attacking threats.
Carl Starfelt: 7.5
Was in the right place at the right time while performing his defensive duties. Although the hosts had limited opportunities against the run, the Swedish centre-half maintained his focus and composure alongside Carter-Vickers.
Greg Taylor: 7
A good shift from the left fullback who showed great balance in between attack and defence. Made some timely overlapping runs and created a few chances before making way for Juranovic late in the match.
Callum McGregor: 7.5
The skipper dominated the midfield game with his vision, distribution and box-to-box movements. His tackles and interceptions frustrated the home side whenever they were trying to play a few passes in the centre of the pitch. Made way for Matt O’Riley around the hour mark.
Reo Hatate: 8
The versatile Japanese sensation depicted his mastery once more with his all-round ability. Dictated the tempo from the middle of the park as he set it up for Abada with an exquisite low cross midway through the first half. Was taken off for Nir Bitton at the break.
Tom Rogic: 9
Back from his Australia duty with a bang. Found the net twice in the first half and was close to firing in a hat-trick only to be denied by the woodwork and Liam Kelly in Motherwell goal.
Liel Abada: 8
Recovered from a tight hamstring and made his presence known with an exquisite strike. Broke the deadlock minutes before the half-hour mark and the gaffer decided to take him off at the break as they were leading by 3 goals already. James Forrest was introduced to replace the Israeli youngster.
Daizen Maeda: 7.5
The wide role does not suit his game, but the Japan international did his best to pose attacking threats with his pace, swift footwork and movements. Eventually found the net in the second half with a deflected effort.
Giorgos Giakoumakis: 6.5
Was denied by Kelly moments before Abada’s opener. Looked a bit late with his runs but his presence inside the box as a targetman troubled the Motherwell backline. Was taken off for Filipe Jota just over the hour-mark.
