In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid are set to rival Bayern Munich for Bayer 04 Leverkusen attacker Florian Wirtz. It is believed that Los Blancos have identified the German playmaker as a target for the summer transfer window.
Wirtz’s Impressive Numbers In German Football This Season
Wirtz has impressed a lot with his performances at the BayArena during this campaign as he has been responsible for putting in a handful of productive displays for Leverkusen in the final third. The 18-year-old has found the back of the net on eight occasions and secured 12 assists in 24 matches for the German outfit this season across all competitions.
The talented teenager has proven his worth as an influential member of Leverkusen’s first XI by averaging 1.6 shots, 2.7 key passes and 2.2 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has even distributed the ball relatively well in the opponent’s half after making 78.5% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).
Is Wirtz A Good Fit For Real Madrid?
Wirtz is a composed dribbler with the ball and has a wide range of passes in his locker. He is a technically gifted footballer who has got the vision to pick out a killer pass in the attacking third of the field. At such a young age, the German sensation has shown great maturity by proving his value as a prolific assist-maker in the Bundesliga. He can even contribute by netting his fair share of goals up top and hardly gives away the ball cheaply in the opponent’s half.
Wirtz has got the skillset and potential to become a future star at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium if Los Blancos can devise a way to get him on board when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
We can expect Wirtz to add plenty of goals and creativity to Carlo Ancelotti‘s attack which makes him a decent fit for the Madrid giants at the end of this campaign. The German whizkid could serve as an upgrade over Eden Hazard, who has struggled to find consistency with his performances in Spanish football this season.
