In a recent report, The Sun mentioned that Manchester United will have to pay £40m for AS Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile. It is understood that the Red Devils will have to cough up at least £40m if they are to lead the race to acquire the services of the French defender this summer.
Badiashile’s Impressive Form At The Stade Louis II
Badiashile is having a good campaign in French football as he has put in a run of solid displays at the centre of Monaco’s defence. The 20-year-old had made 20 appearances for the French outfit this season, registering one assist in all competitions.
The Limoges-born talent has been a rock at the back for Monaco based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 2.2 clearances per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from the back as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 88.5% in the top tier of French football (stats via whoscored).
Is Badiashile A Good Choice For Manchester United?
Badiashile can get stuck in with some crunching tackles to make life tough for the opposition attackers and can scan the danger quickly to earn possession back for his team on the defensive end of the field.
The French sensation usually clears the danger when at risk of being caught out inside his half and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.
An up-and-coming centre-back of Badiashile’s potential will be an excellent acquisition for Man United as the player has got what it takes to become a future star at Old Trafford.
Badiashile will add a lot of bite and steel to the Mancunian club‘s backline and could serve as an upgrade over Harry Maguire who has struggled to be consistent with his performances at the Theatre of Dreams this season. All in all, the Monaco whizkid will be a decent choice for the Red Devils to pursue at the end of this campaign as long as the talented youngster can make a smooth transition to life in English football.
