Leeds United clashed heads with Aston Villa at Villa Park earlier tonight as they focused on getting something from this clash on the road. The Whites made a bright start to the game as they got their noses ahead in the ninth minute when Daniel James found the back of the net with a great finish. However, Philippe Coutinho equalised for the Villans with a brilliant strike at the half-hour mark before Jacob Ramsey turned the game on his head when he scored in the 38th minute. It was Ramsey who struck again for Aston Villa just five minutes later before Daniel James pulled a goal back for Marcelo Bielsa’s side just before the half-time break with a good header.
Diego Llorente managed to net an equaliser for Leeds in the 63rd minute when he scored from close range. The contest ended with the West Yorkshire outfit securing a 3-3 draw away from home.
Let’s take a look at how each Leeds player performed during the match against the Villans.
GK: Illan Meslier – 6/10
The Whites keeper made a few important saves but couldn’t stop the Villans from scoring three goals in the first half.
RB: Luke Ayling – 6.5/10
Ayling had to do a lot of defending and made one run with the ball going forward.
CB: Diego Llorente – 7/10
The Spaniard made a few crucial clearances at the back and popped up with the all-important equaliser for Leeds in the second half.
CB: Pascal Struijk – 6.5/10
He cleared his lines when required and earned the ball back a few times for his team.
LB: Stuart Dallas – 6/10
Dallas was unconvincing at the back but had a couple of bright moments in the final third.
CM: Robin Koch – 6/10
He struggled to get a foothold in the game but managed to create one key chance in the opponent’s half.
CM: Mateusz Klich – 6.5/10
Klich was always willing to shoot at goal but didn’t offer enough protection for his teammates at the back.
RW: Raphinha – 6/10
The Brazilian talent created a couple of inviting opportunities for his teammates but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.
CAM: Rodrigo – 7/10
The Spaniard fashioned some decent openings for others around him and has got an assist to show for his efforts.
LW: Jack Harrison – 6.5/10
Harrison showed a few flashes of what he is capable of but never threatened the Villa goal.
ST: Daniel James – 8.5/10
James was a constant threat in the final third and scored two good goals for the Whites. However, he will be disappointed for not bagging a hat trick.
Substitutes:
CM: Adam Forshaw – N/A
He hardly had any time to influence the contest.
