Liverpool locked horns with Chelsea at the Wembley Stadium earlier this evening, hoping to pick up a win and lift their first silverware of the season.
Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player fared during the clash against the Blues.
Liverpool Players Rated In Win Vs Chelsea
Caoimhin Kelleher 9/10
The Irish shot-stopper made a great save to deny Christian Pulisic from close range in the 6th minute. However, it would be fair to say he had luck on his side tonight as the Chelsea forwards fumbled up the easiest of chances that came their way.
Andrew Robertson 7/10
The Scottish left-back paired well with Luis Diaz down the left flank and defended decently throughout the match.
Joel Matip 7.5/10
The Cameroon centre-back hardly made a mistake at the back tonight. He put in several good tackles and challenges to keep things in control.
Virgil van Dijk 7/10
The Dutchman’s reading of the game was second to none as he kept things in order defensively. He positioned himself quite well and dominated aerially over the course of the game.
Trent Alexander-Arnold 7.5/10
The England right-back made a couple of impressive passes into the final third to slice open Chelsea’s compact defence; however, he fared poorly in defence.
Fabinho 7/10
The Brazilian midfielder consistently shielded his backline throughout the match as he put in some solid challenges to end Chelsea’s counterattacks.
Jordan Henderson 7/10
A decent overall performance from the skipper. His distribution wasn’t eye-catching, neither was his work rate, but he did enough to make sure that Liverpool fought until the very end.
Naby Keita 7/10
He came in a replacement for Thiago Alcantara at the last moment but put up a superb performance nonetheless. He pressed the Blues high up the pitch to retain possession for his team.
Luis Diaz 8/10
The Colombian forward created all sorts of menace for Thomas Tuchel’s men down the left-wing as he created space for himself and his teammates via his precise movement over and over.
Sadio Mane 6/5.10
The Senegal international failed to convert a certain goal from point-blank range in the first half – thanks to Edouard Mendy’s heroics between the sticks.
Mohamed Salah 6.5/10
The Egyptian winger didn’t get too many clear-cut chances to make a difference tonight as he came up short against Antonio Rudiger time and again.
Substitutes
Harvey Elliott 6.5/10
He came off the bench with an infectious energy tonight.
Diogo Jota 6.5/10
The Portugal international got himself into a few good positions.
James Milner 6/10
He added energy and experience to Liverpool’s midfield.
Ibrahima Konate 6/10
The penalty was a close call!
