Despite a stunning win against Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur suffered a shocking midweek defeat against Burnley. Antonio Conte was highly critical after the game and the players had to deliver this afternoon against a struggling Leeds United. And they did so in a spectacular manner by clinching a commanding 4-0 victory at Elland Road.
Below are the Tottenham Hotspur players rated in their win against Leeds United.
Hugo Lloris: 7
It was one-way traffic in Illan Meslier’s goal and the veteran French custodian was hardly tested between the sticks en route to grabbing a clean sheet for the first time in almost two months.
Cristian Romero: 8
A strong defensive display from the Argentine centre-half as he won the majority of duels, also made some quick recoveries and no-nonsense clearances.
Eric Dier: 7.5
Operated centrally in a three-man backline and was in the right place at the right time. Tried to play a few long balls out from the back to script some swift counter-attacks against the run.
Ben Davies: 8.5
Stayed focused while operating as the left centre-back. Did well against Raphinha with key blocks, interceptions and clearances. A stunning block towards the end to deny Stuart Dallas ensured a clean sheet in this one-sided contest.
Matt Doherty: 9
Had a difficult start to life in North London, but the Irishman is enjoying his time under Conte as a right wingback. His overlapping runs and crosses made the difference once again as he fired in within 10 minutes and set it up for Kulusevski 5 minutes later.
Harry Winks: 8
Was combative in the centre of the pitch even though he lost the majority of duels. Maintained a high passing accuracy and managed the game well against Leeds’ man-to-man pressing in midfield.
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg: 8.5
A stellar performance from the Dane who was strong with his challenges and swift in terms of recoveries. His long passes were effective including the one that got converted by Harry Kane midway through the first half.
Ryan Sessegnon: 7.5
Flourishing as a left wingback after a tough time under Jose Mourinho. Assisted Doherty in early minutes with a low cross and kept the Whites’ defence on their toes with his quick runs, tricky footwork and link-up play. Surrendered possession on one occasion but a stunning block from Davies did no harm. Made way for Emerson Royal late in the game.
Dejan Kulusevski: 8.5
Impressed once again with a stunning goal to make it 2-0 early into the game. Junior Firpo and Pascal Struijk had a tough time against the Swedish winger who looked lively with the ball at his feet. Was taken off late in the match for Steven Bergwijn.
Son Heung-min: 8.5
Brilliant in the attacking third with his dribbles and with the ball movements. Showed his excellence in the closing minutes by converting Kane’s pass. Was immediately replaced by Dane Scarlett with three minutes remaining.
Harry Kane: 9
Back to his best as the England skipper not only found the net with a neat finish but also laid on for Son minutes before the final whistle. Kane must continue his scoring streak in their fight for a ‘top-four finish.

Played too little to warrant a rating.
