In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, Transfer Insider Dean Jones tipped Everton to recruit Chelsea forward, Armando Broja, who is currently playing on loan at Southampton. Jones said,
“Frank Lampard will keep a close eye on Gilmour, Broja and Gallagher situations at Chelsea over the summer. I’ll be amazed if at least one of them doesn’t join Everton by next season.”
Broja’s Impressive Loan Spell At Southampton This Season
Broja is having a sensational loan season at St. Mary’s Stadium as he has performed at a high level as the spearhead of Ralph Hasenhüttl’s attack. The 20-year-old has done well to score eight goals and secured one assist in 25 matches for the Saints this season in various competitions.
The Slough-born sensation deserves a pat on the back for averaging 1.6 shots and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. However, he has been poor when linking up play with his teammates in the final third after making 57.7% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Is Broja A Good Option For Everton?
Broja is a moderately-paced striker who can make some intelligent runs in the attacking end of the field. He is slowly transforming himself into a prolific finisher in English football and has been responsible for scoring a handful of important goals for the Saints this season. However, as mentioned earlier, the Albanian striker’s link-up play has left a lot to be desired.
Currently, Everton boss Frank Lampard is in dire need to add more firepower to his frontline as both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have struggled to be consistent in terms of goal-scoring this season. The Albania international will inject some goals and dynamism into Lampard‘s attacking department and could go on to become a favourite amongst the Everton supporters over the next few years.
We can expect Broja to increase competition for places within the Toffees squad and could help them challenge for a European place in the Premier League next season. With all things considered, the Albanian sensation will be a decent option for the Merseyside club to pursue in the summer, so Lampard would be wise to engineer a move to bring him to Goodison Park later this year.
