Everton faced off against Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium earlier today as they looked to secure a positive result away from home. The Toffees were solid in the first 45 minutes and went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
Stuart Armstrong broke the deadlock for the Saints in the 52nd minute with a brilliant strike. Shane Long ended up killing the game off in the 84th minute as the Toffees suffered a 2-0 loss on the road.

The Toffees keeper made a lot of important saves at the back but still ended up conceding two goals today.
RB: Seamus Coleman – 6.5/10
He defended his penalty box with conviction and made one good run down the right flank.
CB: Mason Holgate – 6.5/10
Holgate earned the ball back a few times and made plenty of crucial clearances inside his half.
CB: Michael Keane – 6.5/10
Keane read the danger well at times but won’t be happy after allowing two goals in the second half.
LB: Jonjo Kenny – 6/10
Kenny tried his best to hold his own on the defensive end of the field and made one key chance in the final third.
RW: Alex Iwobi – 6/10
He had a couple of bright moments in the game but could only last 64 minutes.
CM: Allan – 6/10
The Brazilian talent struggled to get into the flow of the game and got substituted in the 45th minute.
CM: Donny van de Beek – 6/10
He produced a lackluster display at the centre of the park but had a few shots at goal.
LW: Anthony Gordon – 6/10
Gordon failed to impress in the attacking end of the field but worked hard off the ball.
ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 6/10
The English striker saw chances come at a premium and had a frustrating day in the opposition half.
ST: Richarlison – 6.5/10
He made a few encouraging runs with the ball but never looked like he would score.
