In a recent tweet, talkSPORT stated that Chelsea are eager to land Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman. It has been mentioned that the Blues are weighing up a move to land the English centre-back who is a big fan of the West London club.
Kilman’s Solid Season In English Football So Far
Kilman has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Molineux Stadium after he put in a few solid displays at the heart of Bruno Lage’s defence. The 24-year-old made 28 appearances for the West Midlands side this season, netting one goal in the process across various competitions.
The London-born talent has been a commanding presence for Wolves on the defensive end of the field as he is averaging 1.7 tackles, 1.8 interceptions and 3.7 clearances per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been tidy when distributing possession from the back based on his pass completion rate of 86% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Will Kilman Be A Decent Choice For Chelsea?
Kilman can be a rock at the back when he is playing regularly on the field. He can use his strong 1.95m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air and can time his tackles well to earn the ball back inside his half. The English talent usually clears his lines when required and can even play his way out from the back with conviction if needed.
At 24, Kilman is a player on the rise as he would only get better when he hits his peak in the coming seasons. He could serve as an ideal replacement for Antonio Rudiger who has got only a few months remaining in his Chelsea contract.
We can expect Kilman to add a lot of bite and steel to Thomas Tuchel‘s defence and could go on to taste success at Stamford Bridge if he can maintain his high standards under Tuchel’s stewardship. It seems like the Wolves star will be a decent choice for the Blues to consider during this summer transfer window as long as they are planning to play him regularly in the future.
