Arsenal entertained Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to collect all three points at home. The Gunners made a poor start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the tenth minute when Hwang Hee-chan scored for Wolves after capitalising on a mistake by Gabriel. The home team struggled to find the equaliser and went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.
Nicolas Pepe finally found the equaliser for the North London outfit in the 82nd minute when he scored from close range. Jose Sa scored an unfortunate own goal in injury-time as the match finished 2-1 in favour of the Gunners.
Let’s take a look at how each Arsenal player performed during the clash against Wolves.
GK: Aaron Ramsdale – 6/10
Ramsdale made just one save in the game but won’t be happy after shipping in an early goal.
RB: Cedric Soares – 6/10
He struggled to get a foothold in the game and got replaced in the 75th minute.
CB: Ben White – 7/10
White did his fair share of defending and was lively on the ball as well.
CB: Gabriel – 6/10
He got stuck in with some solid tackles and did enough to restrict the opposition from scoring more than once tonight.
LB: Kieran Tierney – 6.5/10
He cleared the danger when needed and made two good chances in the final third.
CM: Thomas Partey – 7/10
He was full of energy and running at the centre of the park. Thomas even created a few meaningful openings in the Wolves half.
CM: Granit Xhaka – 6/10
Xhaka had some bright moments in the contest but produced a disjointed display in midfield.
RW: Bukayo Saka – 7/10
Saka created plenty of chances for others around him but there was no goal for him tonight.
CAM: Martin Odegaard – 7/10
Odegaard caused a few problems for the opposition with his creativity but failed to register a goal.
LW: Gabriel Martinelli – 7/10
Martinelli was always willing to have a strike at goal and engineered a couple of decent chances in the final third.
ST: Alexandre Lacazette – 8/10
Lacazette caused all sorts of problems for the opposition defenders because of his link-up play and clever movements up top. He will be disappointed for failing to find the back of the net tonight.
Substitutes:
RW: Nicolas Pepe – 7/10
He came on to score the all-important equaliser for Arsenal.
ST: Eddie Nketiah – 6.5/10
Nketiah came off the bench and bagged an assist.
LB: Nuno Tavares – N/A
He hardly had any time to influence the game.
