Recent reports from Express Sports reveal that Arsenal are keen on signing Chelsea striker Armando Broja in the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks set to add to his options in the forward’s department.
‘It even seems as though Broja could be willing to entertain the idea of joining the Gunners, with the forward refusing to make any promises over his immediate future as of yet.
Express Sport has been told by a source that he is open to all options this summer and would not be prepared to rule anything out at this point in time.
The Gunners are yet to make any direct contact over the possibility of a move for Broja but are understood to be one of several teams in the frame to secure his services.’ – The report read.
Having said that, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton are also keen on securing the Albanian forward’s services permanently; however, his ambitions are to play European football next season. Staying at Chelsea is another possible option for the 20-year-old striker, but securing regular first-team football could be a challenging task given the presence of stars like Romelu Lukaku, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.
Broja’s 2021/22 Season In Numbers
Armando Broja has managed to put up some awe-inspiring numbers on the board this term – averaging 1.5 shots, 0.2 key passes, and 1.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in the English top-flight (calculated over 1147 minutes). With eight goals and an assist across all competitions, the 20-year-old has shown that he can rise to the very top with proper guidance.
The Slough-born forward’s finishing skills are second to none, is quick to anticipate build-ups, can link up the play effortlessly, and above all, he’s playing a pivotal role to help Southampton secure a finish in the top half of the table.
The Perfect Signing For Arteta?
The Gunners failed to recruit a striker in the January transfer window despite pursuing a deal for Dusan Vlahovic, who signed for Italian giants Juventus at the end of the transfer window, but according to multiple reports, Arsenal’s topmost priority is to sign a striker in summer – even if they fail to secure a Champions League spot.
The departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has left a gaping hole in Arsenal’s front-line, and with Eddie Nketiah’s contract expiring at the end of the season, there’s no doubt that Mikel Arteta needs to sign a quality forward who can slot into the starting line-up straight away – and Broja fits the bill perfectly.
The Albanian international has impressed on loan at Southampton so far this season, so his recruitment will definitely strengthen their ranks at the top of the pitch.
